Successes

 

Since its foundation in 2001, Ascenion has negotiated around 600 agreements between research and industry and has accompanied 30 spin-offs through their foundation and early growth. We hold equity in 25 of these companies. To date, Ascenion has forwarded the Life-Science Foundation more than 6,2 million euros, the majority coming from exit proceeds. In addition, since 2003, our partner institutes have received more than 30 million euros from contracts negotiated by Ascenion.

 

Many agreements provide for milestone payments and royalties, payable by the industrial partner to the research institution in line with successful product development and commercialisation. By means of professional portfolio management, we have also been able to save our partner institutes considerable patent costs, e.g. by abandoning less important patents.
