BioVaria Goes Europe: Marketplace for Life-Science Inventions from Leading European Research Institutions

Showcasing event to be held on 20 April 2010 in Munich, Germany

17 February 2010, Munich, Germany -- Ascenion and its partners are pleased to announce the forthcoming BioVaria 2010, to be held in Munich on 20 April 2010. BioVaria is the only dedicated biopharmaceutical showcasing event that presents licensing opportunities and spin-off projects from leading research institutions and universities from all over Europe to the biopharmaceutical industry. Throughout one interactive day, licensing scouts and investment professionals will be able to learn about 50 licensable projects with strong commercial prospects. Topics will cover research tools, therapeutics, platform technologies and diagnostics in the fields of cancer, inflammation, autoimmune, cardiovascular and other diseases. New in 2010 will be the Spin-Off panel, introducing some of  Europe’s most promising entrepreneurial biotech companies to life-science investors and business developers.

Key features of BioVaria 2010 are:
• Presentation of Europe’s top 50 life-science technologies available
   for licensing
• Spin-off Panel introducing Europe’s most promising life-science
   start-ups
• Interactive format combining 10-min presentations with an all-day
   poster exhibition
• Ample space to discuss scientific details face-to-face with the
   inventors
• Unique opportunity to exchange in-licensing needs with technology
transfer professionals from a wide range of institutions and
   universities from all over Europe

The range of participating technology transfer organizations and potential licensees has significantly expanded since BioVaria was launched in 2008. This year, patent agencies from Norway, Austria and France will join the German technology transfer teams as event partners. ‘BioVaria attracts an audience that is truly interested in licensing or funding innovative early-stage projects’, Stéphane Mottola from the French technology transfer specialist FIST comments. ‘For us, this is a unique chance to gain visibility for our technologies and establish relevant contacts. Moreover, we strongly endorse BioVaria’s approach to working together across organizational, regional and national borders in order to improve the transfer of research results into application.’
