TAPe5 Tag - Optimized technology for the purification of proteins and protein complexes
Referenznummer TO 01-00679
Challenge
Recombinant proteins play an important role not only as a research tool but also in industrial applications. For both fields of application a high purity as well as a high yield of the isolated protein are essential. Affinity tags attached to the protein of interest are commonly used in purification procedures combining easy handling and efficient purifica-tion.

Technology
The novel TAPe5 Tag technology provides a highly efficient tandem affinity system for recombinant protein purification and detection. It offers the following advantages:
- short tag of less than 5 kDa
- rapid and gentle affinity purification under physiological conditions
- elution of bioactive proteins and intact protein complexes
- purification to homogeneity
- no protease-step required
This system is an extremely fast and efficient method for the purification of recombinant proteins via a StrepII- as well as a Flag-Tag. As the purification scheme does not include proteolytic steps this new method is more convenient and feasible by main-taining its excellent purification qualities.

In-licensing opportunity
Patent Situation
An US patent application was filed in May 2006.
