Shaping knowledge and technology transfer

Ascenion’s employees are working at regional, national and international level to promote knowledge and technology transfer and to shape framework conditions in line with to their partners’ requirements. Here are examples of some initiatives that are particularly important to us:

Pan-European platform for partnerships between industry and academia

Ascenion launched BioVaria in 2008, initially as a national showcasing event. It has since become Europe’s leading platform for marketing innovative therapeutic, diagnostic and technological approaches emanating from academic research. Over 50 research institutes and universities from all over Europe now present their best projects at the meeting, which has become a fixed date in the calendars of many decision makers in the biopharmaceutical industry. No other event offers such a concentration of innovative life-science innovation.

Ascenion has been working since 2017 as a consortium partner to promote the commercialization of EU-financed research projects. Together with three other knowledge and technology transfer (KTT) organizations, Ascenion has been evaluating the commercial potential of research projects supported by the Horizon 2020 programme. The other KTT partners working alongside Ascenion are VIS (Norway), Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) and LifeArc (UK).

Establishing professional standards in knowledge and technology transfer

As a partner of the professional technology transfer association ASTP (Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals) Ascenion has contributed to launching RTTP accreditation. RTTP stands for Registered Technology Transfer Professional, and aims to promote professional credibility. It defines binding standards for the profession, creating professional certification that is globally recognized both inside and outside the industry.
