Ascenion’s portfolio company Photonion GmbH offers innovative mass spectrometry systems that allow a more detailed analysis of air pollutants, especially polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). PAHs are considered particularly damaging to humans and the environment. The new measurement method is based on a proprietary ionisation and detection system jointly developed by scientists at Photonion and the Helmholtz Zentrum München and has been filed by both partners. Ascenion supported the negotiation of exclusive commercialization rights for Photonion.
