15 March 2011, Munich, Germany – On 24 May 2011, business developers and venture capitalists will come together in Munich with leading scientists, entrepreneurs and technology transfer organizations from all over Europe to learn about the top commercial opportunities that academic institutions and universities have to offer. In just one day, BioVaria will showcase selected spin-offs and around 50 licensable technologies, primarily therapeutic and diagnostic candidates in the fields of cancer, inflammation, autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease and other major human diseases. Many of the projects presented have never been introduced to a public audience before.
One of the licensing opportunities that will be featured at BioVaria 2011 is argyrin, a peptide derived from myxobacteria, which exhibits strong anti-cancer activity in vivo and has distinct potential advantages over existing therapies. State-of-the art preclinical trials are currently under way.
