Building on the ASTP White Paper on enhancing spin-off processes in Europe, the report explores current support strategies at ASTP member institutions across different countries. It provides data-driven analysis of emerging challenges, strategic responses, and includes comprehensive policy recommendations. The data and insights aim to support European public research organisations in enhancing and accelerating their spin-off processes, while taking into account national and institutional differences.
Michael Karle, who leads the spin-off activities at Ascenion, is co-lead author of the latest NAAC report. Just last week at the ASTP Annual Conference in Vilnius, Lithuania, he received the ‘ASTP Volunteer of the Year’ Award for this contribution to the White Paper of NAAC and the NAAC report. This shows that there is a trend for a unified standard in Europe to make the transfer of IP into spin-offs fairer and more efficient.
As one of ASTP’s governing bodies, NAAC brings together 33 national associations from 28 countries, acting as a vital link between European initiatives, regional Knowledge Transfer Offices (KTOs), and local innovation ecosystems.
