Allogenetics secures EUR 3.8 million to advance innovative transplantation therapy

Ascenion's portfolio company Allogenetics has closed a significant pre-Series A financing round. The capital will be used to advance its lead programme, ALG-115, towards first-in-human trials in lung transplantation.

With ALG-115, the biotechnology company is developing a novel ex vivo gene therapy to prevent organ rejection. Unlike conventional approaches, which suppress the recipient's immune system over the long term, the therapy specifically reduces the immunogenicity of the donor organ by permanently silencing the MHC class I and MHC class II molecules that drive rejection. This is intended to reduce graft failure, transplant-related mortality and the side effects of lifelong immunosuppression.

The financing round was joined by existing and new investors, including NBank Capital, CARMA FUND, the Life Science Valley Wachstumsfonds and further corporate and private investors. It marks the transition from preclinical research into the clinical development phase.

Allogenetics is a spin-off of Hannover Medical School (MHH). As MHH’s technology transfer partner, Ascenion has supported the inventors, Prof. Rainer Blasczyk and Prof. Constança Figueiredo, since the early stages of development. This is already the second round of funding that Allogenetics has received from the CARMA FUND, initiated by Ascenion and Innovectis.
