Ascenion Welcomes Dr Manfred Baier to Advisory Board

21 June 2012, Munich – Dr Manfred Baier joined Ascenion’s Advisory Board on 1 June this year. The company thereby gains an experienced industry manager with special expertise in the development and marketing of innovative diagnostics. 
“We extend a warm welcome to Dr Baier,” said Dr Christian Stein, CEO of Ascenion. “His long-standing experience will be highly valuable in the commercial exploitation of our partners’ projects. The development of novel therapies increasingly depends on the availability of complementary diagnostics that allow the clinical development and utilization of new therapies to be tailored to different patient groups.”
Dr Manfred Baier has worked more than 30 years for Roche Diagnostics, most recently as Head of the globally operating business unit Roche Applied Science, to which the US genomics companies 454 Life Sciences and NimbleGen belong. He previously held several leadership positions in the concern, including General Manager for Sales, Germany and Head of various business areas.  In addition, Dr Manfred Baier is a member of the Board of Directors or Advisory Board of numerous life-science companies in Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Dr Baier holds a degree in chemistry and gained his PhD in biochemistry at the University of Stuttgart under the supervision of Prof. Pfleiderer.
