As of mid-November 2014, Dr Christian Stein, CEO of Ascenion GmbH, is the new President of the European technology transfer association ASTP-Proton. ‘I am delighted to hand the presidency over to Christian Stein,’ says Dr Sara Matt-Leubner, CEO of transidee and previous President. ‘He is a superb Manager and an enthusiastic and passionate champion of technology transfer. We will all be able to benefit from this.’ The association, which arose through a merger between the Association of Science and Technology Professionals (ASTP) and ProTon-Europe, was successfully guided through its first year by Dr Matt-Leubner. She will be supporting Dr Stein as Immediate Past President during his period of office.
‘My thanks go to Sara Matt-Leubner, whose first-rate work has created an excellent basis for that which we want to achieve in the coming months,’ says Dr Stein. He intends to advance the association’s mission – the continued professionalization of technology transfer – on three levels, by:
- offering members new routes of access to industry, e.g. by including industry representatives in the association’s professional training courses,
- implementing additional instruments for the exchange of knowledge and experience within the profession, including a new peer-review process (‘review by a critical friend’),
- promoting the professional development of members, e.g. through training and certification.
