New investor capacura for Ascenion’s portfolio company TimeTeller

The Hamburg-based start-up TimeTeller is delighted to announce a strategic investment from capacura GmbH. The company is convinced that TimeTeller’s technology has the potential to fundamentally change medical care.

TimeTeller GmbH has developed a patented, simple and efficient diagnostic method that precisely records an individual’s circadian rhythm using a saliva test with a digital component. This method is based on the fact that the human body is controlled by its own internal clock, known as the circadian clock. It generates 24-hour rhythms (circadian rhythms) in our bodies that significantly influence processes such as metabolism, immune function, and the effectiveness of medications. TimeTeller’s new method is suitable for everyday use, scalable, and makes it possible to determine the optimal time of day for specific medical interventions on an individual basis.

There is great potential in cancer therapy in particular, where the right timing for chemotherapy can increase its effectiveness and reduce side effects. Further studies are underway on neurodegenerative diseases, women’s health, and sports & healthy ageing.

Capacura from Cologne specializes in investments in start-ups that have a positive impact on education, health and the environment. The investment in TimeTeller will accelerate the market launch of its innovative solution and promote its dissemination in the medical community.

TimeTeller is a spin-off from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH), with funding from the BIH Digital Health Accelerator programme, and builds on the findings of the Circadian Medicine and Systems Biology research group led by Angela Relógio. As a technology transfer partner of Charité and BIH, Ascenion supports TimeTeller and holds shares in the start-up.
