Twenty-one Leibniz Association institutes are to join a new interdisciplinary research network, combining their expertise in drug discovery and development. The Leibniz Association has launched the initiative in response to the changing requirements of society and the environment, with the goal of providing new active substances for use in healthcare, agricultural production, nutrition and personal care. An important focus of collaboration within the network will be the pooling and broadening of toxicological knowledge, in order to comprehensively assess the risk profile of new drug candidates. The new network is one of several research networks created by the Leibniz Association to strategically position its research activities across disciplines and institutes.
