Charité spin-off dentalXrai offers AI platform for better dental decisions

Newly founded dentalXrai provides a unique, AI-based platform to improve and speed up the analysis of dental X-ray images. Ascenion, technology transfer partner of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, holds equity in the start-up.

dentalXrai has been developed by a team around Prof. Falk Schwendicke, Director of the Department of Oral Diagnostics and Digital Dentistry at the Charité, who combined top-notch machine learning and software development know-how with leading dental research expertise to develop a powerful tool that enables the detection of dental pathologies and restorations with outstanding accuracy.

The underlying models have been – and continue to be – trained with one of the largest datasets of X-ray images, clinical and socio-demographic data originating from the Charité and additional clinical partners from around the world. dentalXrai is the first dental spin-off of the Charité. Dentists and companies in the dental sector can simply upload X-ray images, have them analysed instantly and store results in a way that supports optimized diagnosis, patient communication and documentation in practice management software.
