x-cardiac rebrands as Ascléa and secures Series A funding

The former x-cardiac GmbH has broadened its business focus and is now operating as Ascléa GmbH. At the same time, the Berlin-based start-up has successfully completed a Series A funding round to drive the further development of its AI solutions for everyday clinical practice.

With this rebranding, Ascenion’s portfolio company aims to extend its existing expertise in the field of AI-supported medical devices to additional areas of application within hospitals. The focus is on the Clé platform, which is designed to enable hospitals to make confident use of modern language models and agent-based AI. The platform can be operated either in a hospital’s own data centre or via European sovereign cloud providers. Furthermore, Clé integrates existing clinical IT systems and makes relevant data available for AI applications. In this way, Ascléa aims to help relieve clinical staff of administrative tasks, thereby freeing up more resources for direct patient care.

This strategic move is accompanied by a successful Series A funding round. In addition to existing investors led by IBB Ventures and business angels, the family office Quercus GmbH and the venture capital investor Catalpa Ventures will also be investing in the company. The funds raised are to be channelled primarily into the further development of the products.

Ascléa is a spin-off from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Ascenion, as the technology transfer partner of Charité and BIH, has supported the project from the outset and holds shares in the start-up.
