Welcome to the team!

Ascenion welcomes two new colleagues: Rebecca Engels is coordinating Ascenion’s activities in the GO-Bio initial programme from our Munich office, and Arturo Robertazzi supports our Berlin team as technology manager.

Rebecca Engels took on the role of Project Manager GO-Bio initial in September. She is responsible for implementing the ‘Life Science Digital Hub‘, for which Ascenion has received BMBF funding. The aim is to support very early commercialization ideas from the drawing board. Ascenion’s core concept is to employ various digital formats to improve support for scientists in transferring their results. This ranges from simplifying the application procedure for exploratory projects to supporting funded projects with opportunities for further training, and improved communication between research and industry.

Rebecca studied biology at Ulm University and is about to complete her PhD in virology at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich.

Arturo Robertazzi joined Ascenion in September as Technology Manager to support Ascenion’s partner institutes in the Berlin area in all aspects of knowledge and technology transfer. He brings over 16 years’ experience in life-science research and industry to the team. Most recently he was Deputy Director Global Sales & Education in a Berlin medical device company active in about 100 countries worldwide, where he has been operating at the interface of science, technology, marketing and business, with particular emphasis on training and coaching the company distributors’ sales teams as well as managing world-class key opinion leaders. Previously, he held positions as product manager and scientific editor.

Before moving into industry, he spent 10 years in academic research with a focus on the dynamics of macromolecules of biological interest. He has studied and worked at several renowned universities and research institutes across Europe, including the International School for Advanced Studies in Italy, Cardiff University in the UK, and the Freie Universität Berlin in Germany, where he received a grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Arturo holds a PhD in chemistry and has published more than 30 scientific articles and books. He is a successful fiction writer.
